EVENTS

SUNDAY 4th: HISTORIC FYFIELD: After Fyfield's 10.30am Village Service on Sunday 4th June, Ian Bensted will be leading a village walk, looking at curious and historical aspects of the village. All welcome.

SUNDAY 4th: TUBNEY'S ANNIVERSARY EVENSONG: Tubney is having a special guest evensong on Sunday 4th June at 6pm for its 170th anniversary. Come and hear a little about the church and the brilliant architect, Pugin, who designed it, and make friends over refreshments.

SUNDAY 4th: "THY KINGDOM COME" PRAISE'N'PRAYER MEETING: A special edition of our informal service in Kingston's Church Room, from 8.00-9.00pm, with coffee first from 7.45pm. This time we are tying in with the worldwide Anglican Church prayer initiative, "Thy Kingdom Come." Even if you don't normally come to this meeting, this is the time to make an exception! It's part of something big.

FRIDAY 9th: FILM NIGHT: At 7.15pm, in Kingston Church Room, "Chariots of Fire," all very welcome (and it's free).

SUNDAY 11th: JOIN US FOR LUNCH AT THE HIND's HEAD: Join us for our monthly 'All Welcome' lunch at the Hind's Head. The cost is very reasonable, and the company is excellent. Please contact Mel Gulliford (821087, melissagulliford@yahoo.co.uk, by the Thursday before) who makes a group booking for us to keep things simple for the Hind's Head. Catch it while the Hind's Head is still there! (Please note this is on the second not the third Sunday of the month to avoid clashing with the Father's Day picnic.)

SUNDAY JUNE 18th - TUBNEY CHURCH 170th ANNIVERSARY: Tubney Church celebrates its 170th anniversary on 18th June with a special morning service at 10.30am, followed by a Celebratory Drinks Party at Tubney House (courtesy of Wildcru). There will be a display of interesting exhibits on: The History of Fyfield and Tubney Parish. All welcome - please come and bring your friends and neighbours, park at Tubney House and walk to church. If you have anything for the history display please contact Rosemary Kitto (390466 or rosemarykitto@gmail.com). SUNDAY JUNE 18th - KINGSTON CHURCH FATHER'S DAY SERVICE, PICNIC AND DADS VS KIDS FOOTBALL MATCH: On Father's Day there will be a special All-Age service led by Gary Long, 10:30-11:30am. It will be followed by a bring your own picnic and a Kids v Dads Football match at the Millennium Green. Bring a picnic to church and walk down to the green after the service. TUESDAY 20th: FYFIELD WITH TUBNEY PCC: At 7.30pm, at the Vicarage.

THURSDAY 22nd: PRAYER MEETING: At 7.30-9.00pm at the Vicarage, very friendly and informal.

SATURDAY 24th: KINGSTON FETE 1 - 4 PM: Kingston's Annual Church Fete is one of the highlights of the year and a date that must go in your diary. It will be held as usual in the grounds of Kingston Bagpuize House on the 24th June, 1pm to 4pm. As always it's more than just a traditional village fete. There will be many exciting attractions as well as craft stalls and lots of stalls run by the village organisations. Many thanks to all those who have already agreed to help, but more helpers are needed, if you can help in any way please contact Hazel Brennan (821358), or Margo Evans (820900). Bottles to Margo, Pat Dando or Hazel. Susan Green is collecting promises for the Auction of Promises.


LOOKING AHEAD

MONDAY 3rd JULY - KINGSTON BAGPUIZE WITH SOUTHMOOR VILLAGE AFTERNOON TEA: At the Village Hall at 3.00-5.00pm, instead of the usual lunch. -The cost is £3 a head, to book your place, contact Hazel Brennan (821358) or Peter Beer (820805) by Thursday 29th June.

Saturday 5th august - fyfield fete: From 2.00-4.00pm, a great event in the Fyfield year. Put it in your diary now, there will be exciting stalls, tasty refreshments, and a great deal of fun.


NOTICES

PRAYER FOCUS: this month's prayer focus is on Watsan and the Malawi project. Watsan is supported by Fyfield and Tubney churches and provides water and sanitation to needy parts of Uganda; the Malawi project is run from Kingston and supports medical work in Malawi.

BAPTISMS, WEDDINGS AND FUNERALS: Kingston mourned at the funerals of Sylvia Webb on 5th May, Shirley Hobbs on 11th May, and Val Scott on 19th May.


CHURCH GROUPS

SUNDAYS: THE SPACE - Bible-based teaching for children in Kingston Church Room during the 10.30am service on all Sundays (except the All-Age Services, of course). All leaders DBS-checked.
SUNDAYS: ANCHOR, FOR 14-18s - a group for 14-18s who wish to be spiritual explorers and find out about the great truths of life, learning from the Bible, at the Vicarage, 6.00-7.45pm, twice a month in term-time. You don't need to be a churchgoer, this group is also for anyone who's happy to investigate with an open mind. Please phone Rebecca on 820451 for more details. All leaders DBS-checked.

TUESDAYS: FELLOWSHIP GROUP - at 9:30-10.30, a new homegroup, led by Gary and Delyth, at 14 Larch Close, learning from the 'Freedom in Christ" course 14 Larch Close. Come at 9am for coffee, contact Gary on 07799968408 for more details, cfw.sjbchurch@gmail.com.

WEDNESDAYS: EXPLORE - We meet on Wednesday mornings at 10.30am-12.00noon at 5 Race Farm Court, OX13 5DS to dig deeper into the Bible, see what it has to say about life's difficult questions, and learn lessons for our everyday lives. No topic or issue off piste! Please phone Ian/Ellie on 820896 for more details. Starts again on 3rd May.

WEDNESDAYS: FELLOWSHIP GROUP - on Wednesday evenings at 8pm - an informal group of Christians who meet to chat, learn about the Bible, pray and help each other in their "spiritual journeys"- please phone Jenny on 820165 for more information.

TUESDAYS & WEDNESDAYS: CHILDREN'S AND YOUTH HOUSE GROUPS - After school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in term-time, we have two house groups: Golden Eagles on Tuesdays 4.30-5.30 at 8 Larch Close for primary school children; the A Team on Wednesdays 7.15-8.15 for secondary school young people aged 11+ at 14 Larch Close.
