EVENTS

SUNDAY 3rd SEPTEMBER: EVENSONG & POETRY EVENING: All are welcome to Tubney's evensong and poetry evening at 6.00pm on the 3rd September. After a shortened but still very beautiful service of Evensong we will be reading and discussing poetry over a glass of wine. All very welcome, and do bring a poem to read. Our topic is Romantic Poetry (please feel free to interpret broadly - whether the Romantic poets, or the romantic in poetry, or even Romanticism in poetry). Call Rosemary Kitto (390466) if you would like to read a poem.

SUNDAY 3rd: PRAISE'N'PRAYER MEETING: An informal service in Kingston's Church Room, from 8.00-9.00pm, with coffee from 7.45pm. An event combining contemporary worship with prayer for our parishes and the wider world, led by Revd Andrew Symes, do come and try it.

FRIDAY 8th: FILM NIGHT: At 7.15pm, in Kingston Church Room, "Sully," all very welcome (and it's free).

SATURDAY 9th: RIDE & STRIDE: Have a pleasant day walking or cycling around historic Oxfordshire churches and raise money for your church and Oxfordshire Historic Churches Trust. Alternatively, if you can take an hour between 10am and 6pm to welcome riders and striders to our churches, that would be much appreciated. Or join Rosemary Kitto to ride together: "If anyone would like to join me (or sponsor me) on the Ride & Stride for Tubney Church then please get in touch. The plan is to ride from Fyfield to Filkins calling at 10 churches on the way mainly using quiet roads. Leaving Fyfield at 10.00 and arriving in Filkins at 13.00 hours (in time for lunch at the Five Alls). Contact Rosemary Kitto, rosemarykitto@gmail.com, 01865 390 466."

SATURDAY 16th: KINGSTON CHURCH CLEANING: On the morning of Saturday 16th, please contact Simon Dando (820086) or Susan Green (820063) if you can help.

SUNDAY 17th: TUBNEY HARVEST FESTIVAL SERVICE: At 10.30am at Tubney Church, all welcome for this special Harvest BCP Morning Prayer, led by Mr John Walker.

SUNDAY 17th: JOIN US FOR LUNCH AT THE HIND's HEAD: Join us for our monthly 'All Welcome' lunch at the Hind's Head. The cost is very reasonable (huge main course for £7.95), and the company is excellent. Please contact Mel Gulliford (821087, melissagulliford@yahoo.co.uk, by the Thursday before) who makes a group booking for us to keep things simple for the Hind's Head. Catch it while the Hind's Head is still there!



LOOKING AHEAD

HARVEST IS COMING: Fyfield and Kingston have their special Harvest services on the 1st and 8th of October, respectively.

SATURDAY 7th OCTOBER: TUBNEY CHURCH BAZAAR AND TABLE TOP SALE: At Southmoor Village hall, 10.30am-12.00noon. Tea and coffee; stalls include: books, cakes, cards, games, gifts, bric-a-brac, raffle, toys, accessories, plus Private Table-Top Sales. Table tops at £8.00 each or £15.00 for two, to be reserved in advance from Rosemary Kitto on 01865 390466 or rosemarykitto@gmail.com.

SATURDAY 7TH OCTOBER: FYFIELD CHORAL EVENSONG: At 5pm in Fyfield Church, all welcome to come and sing a choral evensong with music from Byrd, Smith, Gibbons, Farrant. Contact Penny Budgen, penny_budgen@hotmail.com, for details.

NOTICES

DAVID IS ON SABBATICAL 1st SEPTEMBER TO 1st DECEMBER: In his absence, our churchwardens are in charge, contact details below, with advice on spiritual matters from Revd Andrew Symes, and assistance from our strong lay leadership team. A number of different visiting clergy are coming in to take services and speak. Many thanks to all the kind folk pulling together to provide cover during the sabbatical.

A HUGE THANK YOU FOR THE FYFIELD FETE: a massive thank you to the Buchans, the fete committee, and to everybody else, too numerous to mention, who contributed to the Fyfield Fete, a wonderful event once again.

ANOTHER VERY BIG THANK YOU: to all who helped with Kingston's two holiday clubs, most of all, of course, to Gary for organizing and leading them.

PRAYER FOCUS: our prayer focus is on the whole area of godly giving and stewardship: how best we can use our time, our talents, our treasure, for the service of others and the glory of God.

BAPTISMS, WEDDINGS AND FUNERALS: Kingston rejoiced at the weddings of Luke Pascoe and Aurelia Verdin on 8th July and David Sennewald and Sarah Hobbs on 19th August, and mourned at the funeral of Brian Bartlett on 14th August. Fyfield rejoiced at the wedding of Phil Briggs and Sophie Sydenham on 26th August.



CHURCH GROUPS

SUNDAYS: THE SPACE - Bible-based teaching for children in Kingston Church Room during the 10.30am service on all Sundays (except the All-Age Services, of course). All leaders DBS-checked.
SUNDAYS: ANCHOR, FOR 14-18s - a group for 14-18s who wish to be spiritual explorers and find out about the great truths of life, learning from the Bible, at the Vicarage, 6.00-7.45pm, twice a month in term-time. You don't need to be a churchgoer, this group is also for anyone who's happy to investigate with an open mind. Please phone Rebecca on 820451 for more details. All leaders DBS-checked.

TUESDAYS: FELLOWSHIP GROUP - at 9:30-10.30, a homegroup, led by Gary and Delyth, at 14 Larch Close, learning from the 'Freedom in Christ" course 14 Larch Close. Come at 9am for coffee, contact Gary on 07799968408 for more details, cfw.sjbchurch@gmail.com.

WEDNESDAYS: EXPLORE - In term-time, it meets on Wednesday mornings at 10.30am-12.00noon at 5 Race Farm Court, OX13 5DS to dig deeper into the Bible, see what it has to say about life's difficult questions, and learn lessons for our everyday lives. WEDNESDAYS: FELLOWSHIP GROUP - on Wednesday evenings at 8pm - an informal group of Christians who meet to chat, learn about the Bible, pray and help each other in their "spiritual journeys"- please phone Jenny on 820165 for more information.

TUESDAYS: GOLDEN EAGLES - After school on Tuesdays in term-time, we have Golden Eagles on Tuesdays 4.30-5.30 at 8 Larch Close for primary school children.
